The dating world has become bizarre. I don't think you need to worry about all the things you wrote about in the context of dating. It's good to know in general what you would like out of a partner and then search for a person who fits that ideal. It's hard to date and search for the person you're looking for if you don't know what it is you're actually looking for.
I think the most important thing in this dating game is to be completely honest with the person(s) you're dating. Tell them exactly what it is you're looking for even if what you're looking for is "I'm not sure."

It's a good thing to be self-aware... To be mindful of your intentions and desires... However, to make any progress toward what you say you are ultimately desiring, you can't let the lack of a definitive answer from yourself lead you into total paralysis.
In more blunt terms, stop worrying so much and don't overthink it.
As the anonymous one said, it's a lot more important to be honest than it is to necessarily know what you're looking for.
I think that's enough unsolicited thought for now, I have a Drupal meetup to go to.
